How to Enroll

Connect With Student Success

Student Success is your first point of contact for help navigating the program and answering any questions you have. This process starts with a one-on-one welcome call with your Student Success advisor, who will help guide you through your next steps as a student at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. During this call, you will go over the basics for getting started and get an overview of the orientation process.

Complete the Orientation Process

After your welcome call, your Student Success advisor will work with you through the orientation process to ensure that you have everything you need before you start classes.

One element of the orientation process is a Student Success planning call. This 20- to 30-minute session is designed to explore your personal and professional schedule, along with what you want to get out of your experience with the ExecutiveMPA@Syracuse program. This individualized time with your advisor will help you to identify strategies for your success, and how to best make the program fit into your life.

What to Expect

You will also attend a program expectations and systems overview that’s tailored for all new students. This training will be held in the Zoom classroom by a Student Success advisor and is designed to ensure you have a clear understanding of the expectations of the program and technology before attending your first live class sessions. Please contact your Student Success advisor to set up this training session as soon as possible.

In the program expectations and systems overview session, you will learn more about:

  • the role of Student Success;
  • available resources throughout the program;
  • course sequence and program expectations;
  • the three university interfaces;
  • what to expect prior to your first day of classes; and
  • technology requirements, basics, and best practices.

Set Up Your Syracuse E-mail

All students are required to use their Syracuse e-mail account once they receive access from Student Success. To set up your account, please follow the instructions below. Check your Syracuse e-mail daily for messages from the ExecutiveMPA@Syracuse program concerning registration, news, and events. Faculty send important assignments, changes, announcements for class meetings, and other notices to your Syracuse e-mail address.

To activate your Syracuse e-mail account:
You must first activate your Syracuse University NetID.

Steps to activate your NetID:

  1. Go to the Syracuse University NetID Self-Serv site.
  2. Click “Activate Your NetID.”
  3. Enter your SUID and click “NEXT.”
  4. Read the NetID information and policies, and acknowledge you understand them by checking the box that says “I have read and understand the policy.”
  5. Read the IT security basics information and policies, and acknowledge you understand them by checking the box that says “I have read and understand these IT security basics.”
  6. Enter your date of birth (DOB) and click “NEXT.”
  7. Set your self-remediation method by selecting either “Setup phone” or “Setup e-mail.”
    1. If you select “Setup e-mail,” you will be required to use a non-SU e-mail address. Then enter the passcode e-mailed to that address.
    2. If you select “Setup phone,” you will either select an existing phone number or add a new phone number. Then enter the passcode texted to that phone number.
  8. Set up your password using the rules displayed on the screen. After your NetID setup is complete, make sure you write down your NetID and click “DONE.”

Once you have activated your account:

Please log in to MySlice with your Syracuse NetID (the first section of your e-mail address, before @syr.edu) and your password. Once you are logged in, scroll down to the “Student Links” section. There, you will click on “Outlook” to access your Syracuse e-mail account. If you have questions or need assistance, please reach out to Student Success at 855-969-3383 or e-mail us.

Register for Your First Semester of Classes in MySlice

Order Your Syracuse Student ID

As a Syracuse student, you are eligible to receive a Syracuse student ID card. You can use this ID card to access buildings and services when on the Syracuse University campus. To submit a photo, please follow the instructions in Unit 3.10 of your orientation course in the Digital Campus. If you supply your photo in the orientation course, you will receive your Syracuse student ID card in the mail.
