The online M.S. in Communications program teaches students to apply foundational communications skills to new technologies, ideologies and media outlets that are transforming the industry today.

Through the Media Management specialization, students will explore the latest trends in social media, develop strategies to foster inclusive working environments and learn to apply business analytics to ensure that their organization is reaching the right audience.

Learn to Lead Diverse Teams

The courses for the media management specialization constitute 12 of the 33 program credits and prepare students to leverage new media tools and strategies, design large-scale social media campaigns, and coordinate digital teams across a number of locations.

The topics include:

  • strategies of effective digital team management and social media planning, implementation and evaluation;
  • software tools such as site analytics, tracking code and the PageRank algorithm to manage search engine results and online traffic;
  • methods to analytically and critically examine the forces that make the pursuit of diversity and inclusion strategies more effective in organizations; and
  • in-depth explorations on the intersection of media and business through a Martin J. Whitman School of Management course.
