Highlights of Our Online MBA Curriculum

Syracuse’s online MBA curriculum requires 54 credits to complete in as few as 24 months. Core courses cover topics such as data analysis, accounting, economics, finance and organizational leadership. A range of electives are available in areas that include project management, entrepreneurship, marketing research and Lean Six Sigma.

We also offer Introduction to Python for Business, a new elective inspired by traditional bootcamps. Designed for students with little to no prior programming experience, this course will equip MBA students with the working knowledge of the foundational business analytics operations in the Python programming language.

Online MBA Specializations

MBA@Syracuse offers six specializations, allowing students to tailor their studies based on their career interests. Students may also choose their own elective courses to create an individualized course of study if they wish. Specializations typically consist of three elective courses.


Apply essential principles, such as taxation, financial reporting, auditing and cost accounting, to a wide range of fields.

Business Analytics:

Collect, visualize, analyze and interpret complex data using practical analytic tools to guide organizational decision making.


Develop essential skills for growth within a startup, social venture or established business.


Explore topics such as financial markets, global economics, business strategy and quantitative analysis.

Marketing Management:

Learn to analyze, understand and fulfill customer needs.

Supply Chain Management:

Gain expertise in managing global supply chains across functional areas.

Earn Two Master’s Degrees From Syracuse for Fewer Credits

Once enrolled in the MBA program and for up to one year after graduating, students may apply to an additional program and earn two master’s degrees from the Whitman School or other schools at Syracuse University for fewer credits.

Additionally, the College of Law and the Martin J. Whitman School of Management have launched the nation’s first online joint J.D./MBA degree program.

Online Learning Experience

Since 2015, the Martin J. Whitman School of Management has been delivering an online MBA that empowers students to collaborate and network with diverse professionals from around the world through a variety of avenues. As part of that goal to provide students with the ability to truly connect with their classmates, MBA@Syracuse also offers in-person learning opportunities.


During the program, MBA@Syracuse students attend three in-person residencies held on the Syracuse University campus as well as in major U.S. and international cities. These hands-on, weekend-conference-style experiences allow students to meet classmates and faculty face to face, participate in workshops, hear from prominent business leaders and explore the campus or host city. Past residencies have been hosted in business hubs such as New York City, Denver, Hong Kong and Munich.

Don Cardarelli

Professor of Management Practice

Professor Cardarelli has held several executive leadership roles, including as a partner in public accounting, CFO, COO, CEO and board member, in a variety of industries. He has been a full-time member of the faculty at Whitman for more than 13 years.

Professor Sanderson’s expertise includes defining business challenges, improving processes and coordinating cross-functional teams, and he has built all-star teams and improved supply chain strategies for Fortune 500 companies and small manufacturing firms.

Milena Petrova

Associate Professor of Finance

Professor Petrova teaches real estate and corporate finance at Whitman, and she has consulted for investment professionals, advised on mergers and acquisitions, and worked in management consulting at Booz Allen Hamilton and project finance at Finnvera.

The Value of an MBA

MBA@Syracuse students bring their career goals within reach sooner with increased knowledge, leadership capabilities and an expanded network.

In a survey of 2016–19 graduates, 59 percent of Syracuse online business graduates reported receiving a raise or promotion following graduation—or while still in the program. Graduates who received a raise received, on average, a 31 percent increase. Up to 32 percent were able to leverage their degree with a new employer.

This data is self-reported by Poets & Quants of alumni from the online graduate business programs from the Martin J. Whitman School of Management in 2016, 2017 and 2018. The data was pulled and calculated in August 2019.
