The Whitman School of Management is home to the nation’s first supply chain program, which was established in 1919.2 In our online MBA Supply Chain Management specialization, students evaluate how to mitigate risk and implement operational strategies in global supply chains by using information technologies, optimization techniques and the case method.
All MBA students will take 36 credits of core courses, which includes the Operations and Supply Chain Management course.
Students will take a minimum of three courses to fulfill the Supply Chain Management specialization. They must complete Principles of Management Science as well as Supply Chain and Logistics Management, and they will choose at least one additional course from the following:
As part of the Lean Six Sigma course, students examine a case study of a Syracuse-area company. In addition to completing course content on their own time, students will work on a real-world case during the live classes to reinforce the concepts they have learned.

Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management
Professor Niederhoff teaches undergraduate and graduate supply chain management electives. Her research addresses issues of how individuals make decisions within the supply chain and what effect they have on a firm’s efficiencies and profits. Professor Niederhoff was nominated for Syracuse’s Meredith Teaching Recognition Award in 2014 and 2015.
Assistant Professor of Supply Chain Practice, Director of Executive Education Programs
Professor Penfield teaches supply chain management courses and executive offerings, including on-demand training for managers. He was most recently vice president of operations for a local manufacturing company and has more than 15 years of experience in supply chain management, working with corporations such as Johnson & Johnson.

Syracuse University’s online MBA program merges live online classes, interactive coursework and in-person learning to help students acquire new skills and business expertise. Students complete weekly multimedia assignments, which are the basis of classroom discussions on business and operations trends in the workplace.
